🏦 What is a Fixed Deposit?

A Fixed Deposit (FD) is a popular savings option in India where you deposit a lump sum for a fixed period at a fixed interest rate. The bank pays you interest, and you receive the maturity amount at the end of the tenure.

🧮 Formula Used

Maturity = Principal × (1 + Rate/(100×n))^(n×Time)

Where:

  • Principal = Amount deposited
  • Rate = Annual interest rate (%)
  • n = Compounding frequency per year
  • Time = Tenure in years

💡 Example

For a principal of ₹1,00,000 at 6.5% p.a. compounded quarterly for 5 years:

  • Maturity Amount: ₹1,38,915
  • Total Interest: ₹38,915
